You Ask – We Answer

Will i Drive On My 1st lesson?

Yes, you will definitely be driving on your first lesson.

If you are new to driving, your Instructor will drive you to a suitable location to get you started. It’s vital that your first few lessons are conducted in an area that will ensure your success and build your confidence.

Your Instructor will take a few minutes to record your licence details, test your eyesight and explain how to adjust your seat, head restraint and make sure you are comfortable.

He/she will then explain the controls that you will need to operate during your first lesson.

You will then be given a briefing on the move off and stop procedure with a short discussion to ensure you understand what is required. Your Instructor will then give you full talk through and guide you through your practical driving session. You will be able to learn at your own pace and your lesson will progress as and when you feel ready.

All your lessons will be structured to ensure you receive the maximum value for your money. Your early lessons will be in quiet areas, mainly on housing estates so you can build your confidence.

Full details on our unique Accelerated Learning System can be accessed by watching the main video on this page titled ‘Save Your Time and Money’.

See our price lists for more details

Do you offer intensive or crash courses?

Yes, we offer intensive driving courses/ fast pass courses

Please click the ‘Are we the right school for you’ Button for a full explanation of the services we offer.

Do you offer lessons in an Automatic vehicle?

Yes we do.

Please click the Yellow ‘Lesson Prices’ Button just above the four ways you can make contact for full lesson pricing details.

How many lessons a week do you recommend?

We find that taking a 90 minute or 2-hour lesson every week, proves to be the most successful strategy for most students. 90 minute or 2-hour lessons would be far more beneficial to you. You will learn far more for your money and you will also be test ready in half the time. You will have a decent amount of condensed learning in one go with time to digest and be focused for your next lesson

Taking a regular weekly lesson has proven success as it provides continuity, the retention of knowledge and it will reduce your learning period. We will aim to offer you a regular lesson slot that you can book in advance and keep from the time you commence your lessons until you pass your test.

You will also be able to book more than one lesson slot per week should you wish to reduce your learning period and be test ready sooner. (Subject to instructor availability)

Do You Offer Pay As You Go?

Yes, we do, however your lessons do have to be pre-paid 48 hours in advance. We prefer not to accept cash on the day of your lessons, but you are most welcome to pay each week as you go using your preferred method of payment.

Once you are booked in your driving instructor will give you a password for the ‘pay now’ page.

Do you offer lessons at weekends or just during the week?

Yes, we do offer lessons on Saturdays and Sundays.

Weekend lessons are always in high demand and will be subject to availability.

How many lessons do you think I will need?

It’s almost impossible to know until you begin your tuition.

The DVSA suggest that the average is around 46 hours, but we find that most of our students are test ready much sooner. It really does depend on the individual, but our recommendation is to book ten hours of lessons and once completed, you will have a much better idea of the number of lessons you will need.

Where can I find payment options?

The shop facility on this website 24/7 – Find the shop link in the top menu

Card payment over the phone during the working week between 9am and 6pm

Once you are booked in your driving instructor will give you a password for the ‘pay now’ page.

Do you come to me or do I have to come to you?

We will always pick you up at your preferred location. That could be from College, your home, work or anywhere else you choose. We will also drop you off at your preferred location.

Do you have female instructors?

Yes we have lady instructors covering nearly all are locations.

How long is the waiting list?

It really depends on when you would be available to take your lessons.

If you would like to contact us by using one of the four methods towards the top of this website with the days and times you are available, Dave & Sharon, who are our customer services staff will check and get back to you ASAP.

How come you are more expensive than others?

That is a very good question.

Most people wrongly assume that all driving instructors are the same!

I have produced several videos on this website to help you make the correct decision, avoid the costly mistakes and to avoid being one of the 30% of local learners that feel the need to change their driving instructor before test day.

Please check out the main video on this page ‘How To Choose Your Driving Instructor’. You will be glad that you did!

Do you teach people with learning difficulties?

Yes, we do but it will depend on the circumstances.

Our instructors do not pretend to be experts, or do they possess special training for certain disabilities. The best advice I can give is to contact our customer services and discuss your requirements, so they can attempt to match a suitable instructor.

Do you offer one-hour lessons?

Just to be clear and give you a balanced view, there is nothing wrong with 1-hour lessons, we just feel that they offer less value for your money as they prolong the learning period substantially. Another of the drawbacks is having to take time from your lesson to drive to a suitable location that is relevant to cover the topic and then having to drive back again. So, should you prefer to take less than 90-minute lessons, we would not be the right driving school for you as we don’t offer them.

You can research further by watching the video on this website – Are we the right driving school for you?

What is your 1st time pass rate?

We are very proud of our 1st time pass rate and our instructors deserve a lot of credit for their hard work. It’s impossible to give the exact % as we have tests almost every day and it will continually change.

Checking out the main video on this page ‘How To Choose Your Instructor’ will help you make the correct decision and avoid the costly mistakes that force over 30% of all local learners to change their instructor before reaching test day.

Driving Schools offer several advantages over solo driving instructors. Advantages include variety and types of services offered to their customers. For example, non-UK resident or foreign students who are relocating to the UK might need a refresher course which can easily be provided by a driving school.

A solo driving instructor might not be able to offer that service to his customers. Similarly, a driving school might be able to provide more advanced training or even a more varied level of instructor.  Advanced training might include subjects such as motorway driving for instance. Another opportunity for a driving school might also be to offer a choice between male or female instructors.

Something that a solo instructor obviously will not be able to do.

It probably comes as no surprise that most people think that all driving instructors are the same and all of them will probably teach you to drive in the exact same way. This couldn’t be further than the truth because instructors are completely different despite receiving the same training when they initial passed their instructor examinations.

Most people probably think older drivers are more experienced even in terms of instructors. That isn’t necessarily the case with only a small percentage of driving instructors taking further development training once they have passed their instructor exams.

A recent review by an online money saving website claims just 26% of learner drivers booked their lessons with professional driving instructors for the vast majority of their driving lessons.

The primary reason given in the survey by more than 2,000 recently qualified drivers was that expert driving instructors were considered to be too costly and around 46% of those same people surveyed suggested they used family or friends to help them to learn to drive.

The results are perhaps not that surprising given the website is a money saving site but the question we need to ask is did those surveyed actually save any money?

There have been many changes to driving training over the past few years & whilst better driving instructors do stay up to date with the latest methods & techniques and offer the most recent customer focused systems, others are stuck using old & maybe even obsolete techniques.

Older parents may recall their own learning encounters of driving around and around and essentially going over similar procedures until the point when it soaked in. Driving tuition should be very much different in 2017 & an all-round structured series of lessons should now be adopted.

Learning to drive with friends and family can often lead to problems typically caused by one or two main factors. These factors are location and experience. When it comes down to location most family members and friends do not understand the importance of where you should be practising your various manoeuvres in accordance with your driving syllabus.

A driving instructor will be fully aware that you need to start your lessons as a new driver on a very quiet housing estate or industrial estate where there is no risk of other road users continuously interrupting. That usually isn’t what friends or family adopt when they teach you to drive, they simply get you on a road or roads that you clearly are not ready for.

Over the last few pages of this site we have covered most parts of understanding how to drive. So do we choose a driving school or driving instructor? Customarily all instructors obtain work through word of mouth but that has increased many fold now give that we are in the social media era.

Obviously, we have the usual verbal exchange where we might meet someone in the street & discover that they have recently learned to drive & recommend a particular school or instructor. This has long been the most traditional method of word of mouth.
